Comment by Ezcut — February 28, 2010 #
when he says free software he isn’t talking about price. It’s free as in free speech, not free as in free of charge.
There is nothing wrong with making money from your software!

I think its ludicrous to say: “The GNU Project’s relative lack of progress is testament to this. ” when 7 million + users use GNU/Linux – Mac OS X would not be around if not for GNU, which means no iphone with out the GNU project…
GNU is in everything from Firefox to every free unix based OS.

I like his haircut.

Richard Stallman is a revolutionary – he should be put in control of earth he would fix all its problems

People like to be compensated for their efforts. Quality software requires a lot of effort. You cannot compensate these programmers without making a profit.
The GNU Project’s relative lack of progress is testament to this.
I have nothing against free software, and I am aware of some of the injustices of DRM, but the idea that it’s unethical to profit on software is ludicrous.

I think I looked this up just because I was curious as to what Richard Stallman sounds like when he talks. Now I know… he sounds nerdy. But he also sounds intelligent, and that’s something I can appreciate.

I think gotta love he starts indexing the freedoms from 0 instead of 1.

@ Hanedagamer:
The BSD license does not protect anything. It allows for unscrupulous individuals to take source code, modify it and close it up – Apple’s Macintosh OS/X comes to mind, which is the most painful failure FreeBSD has ever had to endure (Apple basically took FreeBSD, called it ‘Mac OS/X’ and rips off customers by appealing to the cheapest of human tendencies: conformism).
