Earthship Design Principles

Earthship Biotecture creates buildings that… * Heat and cool themselves naturally via solar/thermal dynamics * Collect their own power from the sun and wind * Harvest their own water from rain and snow melt * Contain and treat their own sewage on site * Produce food in significant quantities * Utilize materials that are byproducts of modern society like cans, bottles and tires www.earthship.com

Not sure where your based FlatfootJohnny….but you certainly can tax sunlight, it was tried in the UK in the 17th and 18th centuries. It was known as ‘window tax’. The more windows you had, the more you paid. Eventually people started bricking up their windows to avoid paying so much. As well as being a crime against architecture, it where the expression ‘daylight robbery’ stems from.

Im not sure why people get so het up against green tech. Surley if its cleaner then its better. Why are so many happy to breath in pollution, poison rivers, and thoughtlessly kill wildlife…not to mention starve developing nations. why be dependant on only 1 source of energy technology ie fossilised carbon. If the greenhouse effect is not happening then at least we get cleaner tech, being developed. If it is happening and we do nothing then we are buggered! oh yea we cant tax the sun and wind.

I think You have no way to refute what I say so you resort to name calling. Classic uneducated Al Gorean simpleton response, couldn’t have expected anything else.
Did you know your God Al Gore has made over $5 billion, with his co-founder Goldman Sachs banker buddie David Blood, from scamming global warming suckers like you?
Also, what Alex Jones talks about has nothing to do with right wing or left wing politics.
Go fight your windmills, Don Quixote. Continue the ignorance. Peace.

I think what an exotic breed of idiot you sound like…ah..of course!
There’s the telltale Alex Jones ‘favorite’.
Global warming is a distraction, but any other right wing crackpot fever dream is very serious stuff.
“Political tool” indeed. Shut yr ass, poser.

Who decides who is “competent” enough to have an opinion? You? I don’t think so.
I’m not a scientist but I’ve done my research.
Comment by KOPYMEH — December 19, 2009 #
It’s meant to be challenged by competent people, ie scientists who know what they’re talking about.
Are you a scientist?
Comment by thesynista — December 22, 2009 #
No. I don’t watch TV, too many lies come from that box,.
Comment by johan404 — December 24, 2009 #

Tireshops pay lots of money to have trucks picking up used tires. So some of the Earthship builders actually get paid to take care of the tires.

I guess they are tourists. Coming to see the scientific marvel in front of them.
Oh well, it’s not a marvel, just plain cool shit.
Comment by pulemand — January 1, 2010 #
Good question, sir. Maybe they bought them used?
Comment by pulemand — January 3, 2010 #
I think how do people go about getting ahold of all those tires?
Comment by gonnagetmydrinkon — January 6, 2010 #
You’re right, it doesn’t, it’s not even an issue. There are however legitimate environmental concerns, like pollution, overfarming, overfishing, deforestation, soil degradation etc. And those are things that we can actually do something about. Global warming is just a political tool, a distraction.
Comment by johan404 — January 9, 2010 #
Why does it matter if Global Warming or Cooling is an issue? All that shit fills up landfills anyway! And they don’t pay one red cent to run the house.
Comment by Kitscoma — January 9, 2010 #
Global warmers (or climate changers, as they are now called when the Earth is cooling) should present adequate evidence first, since it’s they who started this whole hysteria.
PS! Why are you being so defensive? It’s a scientific theory, not a religious belief, it’s meant to be challenged.
Comment by johan404 — January 12, 2010 #
Why not publish the results of any experiments you’ve done on the subject or any work you’ve done in this field so that the scientific community can review them? If you have good evidence to counter the majority scientific opinion then I’m sure they’d be interested. If, on the other hand, yours are just the typical uneducated ramblings of the average ignorant cunt, then perhaps they won’t have much time for you.

What are the annual property taxes?
Now to work on legislation so that people everywhere are “allowed” to make the kind of homes they want to on their own property everywhere!
Comment by anitatbanana — January 19, 2010 #
I think The house is beautiful, but in order to be sustainable about 20 people would have to live there, and they’d need to limit their travel. When I see crowds of people standing around this house, I wonder how they got there, and where they went after the photo was taken…
Comment by davidfrayne — January 21, 2010 #
this is the way we should be adapting to the earth friendly eco-system this way the earth will live much longer and healthier
Comment by homeXmadeXproduction — January 21, 2010 #
maybe we dont have a control on the weather, but this type of house is not just about “global warming” but about our impact on the environment.
we are cutting down the forests and polluting everything with risky chemicals.
and who is screaming?!?
