Will interior design students work on your project at a discount, like hair stylist students do?

I don’t need anything extravagant so I don’t think I need to go to a costly designer. I just want to be lead in the right direction and I think a design student might have just what I need.

Also are there any design schools in Houston, TX?

What type of window treatment to use for higher than average windows?
Posted by printer - 08/03/10 at 09:03:23 amI have 2 windows in my bedroom that are 48″ W by 36″ H. The sill is about 55″ off of the floor. I do need them covered completely at times for privacy. I feel that floor length would look odd since there is so much space below window. They seem a little bare w/only a mini blind or roman shade.Submited by:Nancy A

How do you refinish windows in a 1980s home?
Posted by printer - 20/02/10 at 03:02:00 pmI’ve purchased a 1980′s built home that I am going to update and sell. The Andersen windows have dark sashes–if I paint the window frames white, will the sash look really strange and what other options are there for me in redoing the woodwork?

On exterior windows, how can you put the decorative lines to give a more colonial feel?
Posted by printer - 27/01/10 at 05:01:18 amAdam G asked:
I just bought a very old city colonial with new replacement windows. However, they look very boxy and uninteresting. There aren’t any grooves in the window to insert decorative lines. Do you have any other suggestions on putting lines on new windows to give it a colonial feel? Thanks so much!

What kind of window covering should I use besides blinds on closet windows?
Posted by printer - 18/12/09 at 10:12:01 amDonna asked:
I have a small room with 2 windows off my bedroom. I want to convert this room into a closet. I am concerned about the sunlight fading the clothes; on the other hand, I would like to retain as much light as possible. I don’t particularly want to use blinds. I am seriously considering using the self-adhering embossed vinyl window film. Good idea or bad idea? Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you.
