How do I set up a home network with both a wired and wireless connection?

I have a desktop connected via an ethernet cable to a wireless router. I would like to network the desktop with two notebook computers that access the internet via the wireless router. The main uses will be file sharing between the computers and the ability to print from one of the notebooks to a printer connected to the desktop. I have used the windows networking wizard, but can’t seem to make a connection between the computers.Submited by:SBF

I have a deigial media receiver (wireless) connected to home wireless network and the HDTV. I am able to share media files to it and watch videos on HDTV that are stored in my PC’s hard disk without the help of Windows media player 11. I want to watch internet streaming media thru the windows media player 11. But my media receiver does not detect window media player 11. Need help here. Anybody please help.

Hi there. I am currently wanting to make a wired network to save buying a wireless router. The house is unfinished so holes can still be made. I need network modular outlets in 6 rooms, I want to use some type of ethernet cable and connect wire them up to a multi outlet on a wall elsewhere. This is so I can connect to these, without there being loads of wires everywhere. The problem is I don’t know which ethernet wire to buy, and also I don’t know which outlets, tools etc. I need to buy also. I preferably would like the network to have speed of about 1gb. Also I was wondering whether someone could tell me how to wire these, and if there is a specific way of wiring them. Thankyou so much.

I have no router, just a network switch. I don’t really need internet access on the client machine.

Anyhow, how do I set it up so both computers can share files and printer access?
Is a crossover cable different from a standard ethernet cable?

I have the printer directly connected to one computer. The computer is connected to the switch, and the switch connects to the other computer.
