All my text is italic on desktop/browsers/windows. (windows XP) How do I correct this?

It’s getting really annoying.
I tried properties>appearance>advanced and none of the selectable items’ text is set to italic. They are all default, yet the problem remains.

This seems to happen a lot in my FireFox browser, in this very text box I am typing. I thought it was just firefox but it seems to affect my IM windows in the same way.
